Wheat & gluten free diet
What is the first thing you think about when you hear the word diet? I'll bet 95% of you will think 'losing weight', am I right? Well this page is about diet, but not weightloss, not the 'I want the lollipop lady look' (big head, stick thin body) that the celebs are saying they've gained by ditching the wheat, etc etc, but diet.
And by diet we mean healthy eating, to ensure that your body gets the nutrition that it needs from an already compromised dietary intake if you have a wheat or gluten allergy.
So if you want sensible weightloss then try here.
But in preparation start by promising yourself (and enforcing it) that you will eat a minimum of 5 portions of fruit and vegetables a day. Get into the habit now, it'll get easier, and you'll be amazed that by eating more fruit and veg you will start to eat less junk food, sweets and calorie laden 'treats' because the fruit and veg will fill you up.
On top of this you will be getting a natural boost of vitamin C and fibre daily, which will do you more good than popping a pill. If you want to know about vitamin C then our slug blogger did an article a while back about the perceived benefits of vitamin C supplements (Are vitamin C supplements the end to all ills?).
Recently we've been very impressed with a diet called "The Eat Clean Diet".
Clean eating is basically about eschewing all those highly processed ready made foods and eating foods in their most basic form. In other words, avoiding those heavily packaged, sugar laden foods on the shelves and instead eating good, wholesome, freshly made foods without all those nasty preservatives, sugar, salt, fat etc.
The diet is big on fresh fruit and vegetables, complex carbohydrates and lean protein. There aren't many rules to follow: eat 6 meals a day, drink lots of water, cut out the sugar, cut out high fat foods, and eat the food as naturally as it comes. Okay so you can still have gourmet meals on this diet, you just start with the fresh foods, rather than buying things pre-made.
